Hey there, we are putting together a discussion meeting about a 3sw permaculture guild.
(interest group / forum)
And we are planing on having a second meeting in Albuquerque after the event for those who can't make the first one. (TBA) Please let us know if you are interested.
When: this Saturday 9/15/07 at 5pm 6pm
Where: @ the 3swhole near kitchen
Layout of meeting:
greetings & introductions
basic permaculture primer
discus interests, and site planning (exchange of synergy)
priorities and objectives
place & date for next meeting
suggestions & closing
"Permaculture is a philosophy of working with, rather than against nature; of protracted & thoughtful observation rather than protracted & thoughtless labor; of looking at plants & animals in all their functions, rather than treating any area as a single-product system." - Bill Mollison
This definition of permaculture expresses a basic concept in permaculture - examining and following nature's patterns. Permaculture advocates designing human systems based on natural ecosystems. But, there are many other definitions of permaculture, just as there are many definitions of sustainable living.
The term permaculture is a contraction of the words "permanent," "agriculture,” and “culture.” Although the original focus of permaculture was sustainable food production, the philosophy of permaculture has expanded over time to encompass personal, economic and social systems. It is a dynamic movement that is still evolving. For example, some practitioners are integrating spirituality and personal growth work into the framework of permaculture.

Re: observing nature...
Thu, December 13, 2007 - 8:35 AMWe were late getting out there, and late responding to this... When we did show up about 45 min's late we found that there was an event already planned out for that particular time slot, and took everyones attention anyway. So.. We noticed that no one there at the time was really all that interested in forming any kind of land restoration group.. Seems like the idea was not receiving much interest, let a lone positive feedback and input.
The amount of trash left behind after the event should show everyone where people's mind set is. What's up with the "Leave No Trace Ethic"? This is something I have noticed for the past three years that I have been attending these events. This will take a major paradigm shift, a shift in they way we care for the land and each other. I apologize to every one for not expressing my self sooner. I also know there has been so much going on for everyone including the land with the obvious rape and pillaging of the our Sacred 3SidedWhole. My thoughts and prayers are with the land and community....
So no, it has not been decided, and no one else seems to be willing to jump into the firing line of this, so I leave it up to everyone else in this community to be responsible land stewards. I have become disenchanted for many reasons, including the fence project, it's not worth the time and energy watching the left hand sabotages the right hand.
Best wishes! -

Re: observing nature...
Thu, December 13, 2007 - 8:57 PMThe 3sidedwhole will not find its future until its past is forgotten. It is sacred land that is waiting to be reawakened, but few seam to know its song. When the land finds its soul mate, that is when we all will know that it is more then a party space. But who is out there that wants to listen?..... I stand before the fire,...within it if I must. Perhaps the ancient ritual of winter solstice will bring the Circle to its center, and then we shall see if the past is flammable....As for being disillusioned...that is a good thing. Illusions are fake....tricks of the mind, and it is going to take all of the real, solid truth we can create to bring this community into One....
This is but the ramblings of one mind, and by no means anything more then an opinion....

Re: observing nature...
Fri, December 14, 2007 - 9:09 AM"The 3sidedwhole will not find its future until its past is forgotten." hmmm....
Forget it's past? Why? Then, as we have experienced before, history is doomed to repeat it's self....... Do we really want that?
Maybe it's more like, until we have a balanced, respectful relationship with the land and one another will we not "trash" one another or the land.
The Spirits of the land out at the 3SW seem to be calling all of us to calibrate her and each other as a community, with love and respect.
There doesn't really need to be a "reawakening" of the land, she IS AWAKE, and asking us NOT to "trash" her any longer. If you have a child that came home from school one day that had been jumped by older kids, beaten, called names, ripped clothes, and wounds, what would you do? Love and Protect your child? Of course..... I hope....
Imagine, if you will, that the 3SW is a microcosm of the macrocosm. A miniature version of not only the Earth around us but the Whole of our universe, our collective Soul. And we as individuals are even smaller versions of that same Sacred space....
"But who is out there that wants to listen?" YES!!! This IS the call!
"When the land finds its soul mate, that is when we all will know that it is more then a party space....." Wait just a minute, We are the children of our Mother Earth! Who would make a better Soul Mate?
We are the One's we have been waiting for!
I challenge these statements because I have been completely humbled by the Spirits of the 3SW land. I have a deep respect and honor the Spirits of this land. I only wish to encourage every one to treat her with a little more respect.
On the morning of the last event, as I finished repairing the Eastern fence, I grabbed a black trash bag from the Art Barn and walked with my partner all around the property picking up the trash that was left behind. I had this image of every one getting together on the last morning of every event and walking the land in Spiritual Communion, sending the land and community love by cleaning up after ourselves. Make it a ritual, make it a ceremony, send her and every one that has walked that land love. 3SW is a sacred ceremonial ground, we should all treat it as such, she is the Earth we walk upon.
With love and respect,

Re: observing nature...
Fri, December 14, 2007 - 7:23 PMPlease forgive me, as is often with my attempts at social interaction, I choose poorly the words I use to express my soul and mind. Call it a lack of education. By saying "forget the past" my hope was to express the current attitude by many of the people I have interacted with at the Whole and by those I have met through the Web of community it is connected to. The lands past is multi layered, indeed my humble understanding of it is extremely limited and spanning only a few years. But I have seen enough to know that the most common "memory" for most of the lands his/herstory as the 3 Sided Whole is that
Yeh, there was an awesome "party" there I went to / This is such an incredible "party"
I myself am very guilty of using that term on accident and creating something that was not supposed to be, out of ignorance and fair lack of foresight. My point, long winded as it is, pushes the observation that most people know of the Whole as a place for a "party" and only a percentage of those I have spoken to on the subject believe it in their hearts that it is sacred land. I by no means imply that that vision is a minority, just the most commonly noticed. That is the "past" perception of the land I would love to see placed to the side and written off as lessons learned so that we can embrace the new Vision that so many of us, on all tiers of the Whole's community, wish to see blossom.
In short, I agree with everything you have mentioned in this post, though words will be interpreted through the brain of each individual that reads this and opinions made.
You asked for someone to step into the "line of fire"
And so I did. And will continue to do. My blood for the Healing,...my life to the Goddess.

Trash bags and Earth
Thu, December 20, 2007 - 1:42 PMSo,, it seems we should
1. Hand out a trash bag for each camp with purchase of a ticket.
2. Trash parade held on the final / every morning of any event, culminating in some lovely reward... thou I don't know what would call people.
3. On the entrance, a sign, reminding Us that this is a microcosm of our beautiful planet.
4. Definatley start an affiliate tribe for sustainability and abundance in environmental matters at the whole. I'll do that now.
Love,
Star*
